Psychiatric medications can play an important role in easing symptoms and improving overall wellbeing. At Iroko Psychiatry, our experienced clinicians provide thoughtful, evidence-based medication management tailored to your individual needs. We work closely with you to find the right medication and dosage for your unique situation, ensuring safety, balance, and effectiveness. Medication management is an essential part of the comprehensive care we provide at Iroko Psychiatry. Psychiatric medications can help reduce symptoms, restore balance, and enhance the effectiveness of therapy and other supports. Because every individual responds differently, finding the right medication and dosage takes time, careful monitoring, and collaboration. Our clinicians take a personalized, evidence-based approach—working closely with you to ensure your treatment is safe, effective, and aligned with your goals for mental wellness.

Who is it for?

At Iroko Psychiatry, your clinician will determine whether medication is appropriate after a thorough psychiatric evaluation. This includes reviewing your symptoms, medical and mental health history, and overall wellbeing to create a personalized treatment plan.

Medication management may benefit individuals living with:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety Disorders including generalized anxiety and panic disorder
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic disorders
  • Substance use disorders
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Not every condition requires medication, and for some, treatment may be short-term. For others—such as chronic or recurring disorders—ongoing medication management may be recommended to maintain stability and long-term wellness.

Our Approach

Your medication management journey at Iroko Psychiatry is guided by your unique diagnosis, symptoms, and goals. During the initial phase, your clinician may schedule more frequent follow-ups to carefully monitor how you respond to a new medication, track progress, and adjust dosage as needed. Once your treatment plan is stable and effective, follow-up appointments become less frequent, focusing on maintaining balance, reviewing symptoms, and ensuring your medication continues to work well for you. If it becomes appropriate to discontinue a medication, your provider will guide you through a safe and gradual tapering process to prevent side effects and ensure comfort throughout the transition.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does medication management involve, and how can it help me?

Medication management is a psychiatric service in which a clinician evaluates your symptoms, diagnosis, and medical history to determine the most appropriate medication strategy. It involves more than prescribing — it includes careful dose titration, monitoring for effectiveness and side effects, assessing medication interactions, and integrating treatment with psychotherapy and lifestyle goals to ensure safe and sustained improvement.

Which mental health conditions can be treated with medication at Iroko Psychiatry?

We use medication management to treat a broad range of mental health and behavioral conditions, including mood disorders (such as depression and bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), psychotic disorders, trauma and PTSD, sleep disorders, and substance use disorders.

What can I expect during my first medication management appointment at Iroko Psychiatry?

During your first medication management appointment at Iroko Psychiatry, your clinician will conduct a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, reviewing your symptoms, medical and family history, and any prior treatment or medication experiences. Together, you’ll discuss your goals, possible medication options, expected benefits, and potential side effects.

Does Iroko Psychiatry prescribe stimulant medications?

Yes. At our Texas location (Dallas), Iroko Psychiatry offers both stimulant and non-stimulant medication options for ADHD treatment. In other states where we currently provide care, we offer non-stimulant medications only at this time. As we expand into more states, we plan to broaden access to stimulant prescriptions in alignment with evolving state laws and telemedicine regulations to ensure safe, compliant, and effective care across all locations.
